Hello. I work as an independent designer in Los Angeles. I work in and around interface design for software and hardware, toys and games, graphics and animation, and music and sound. Most of my work is in early-stage invention and prototyping for new products, services, media and environments. I also run a small studio called Extraordinary Facility, where I focus on design for learning and play.

I’ve been in the industry for about twenty years now. Recent clients include The New York Times R&D, Google X, Toca Boca, and Ableton. From 2011 to 2016, I worked at Apple in Cupertino, as part of the Human Interface Device Prototyping group. Before that, I lived in London, freelancing for design studios including BERG and Airside, as well as full-time stints at Last.fm and Nokia.

I do occasional talks, workshops and teaching – recent schools include ArtCenter College of Design, Parsons School of Design, The Oslo School of Architecture and Design, The School of the The Art Institute of Chicago, Rhode Island School of Design, and The Design Village in New Delhi.

I have a masters from the Royal College of Art, a PGCE from Goldsmiths, and a BA from Ravensbourne College.

You can see my CV here.
